Ewa Treitz in European Innovation Council

The EU's Horizon 2020 perspective ends in two years. The European Commission is already developing a new model for the functioning of the SME Instrument deigned for small and medium-sized enterprises with a radical innovation that can disrupt established value networks and markets. What has been changed? Project evaluation has been transferred from the Commission's officials' hands to European Innovation Council consisting of experts from private sector (entrerpreneurs, business angels, VC managers).

The pilot project of European Innovation Council started its activity at the beginning of this year, and Black Pearls VC Venture Partner Ewa Treitz is one of the Polish representatives who sit on the Council as an ICT and Engineering expert. Due to European Innovation Council experts' involvement, the selection was made basing on the quality of the business idea, potential and vision of the company presented by an SME management team in Brussels directly in front of the expert panel.

The European Commission starts using  proven standards of the VC industry and brings pitching into play. Meeting founders and having the opportunity to discuss their projects directly is the best way to right selection of projects with potential.

Collective decisions made during expert panels and the recommendations of European Innovation Council experts are binding on the European Commission.
