Nanoxo investment

Nanoxo is a Polish company with scientific backround developing its own technology for producing quantum dots of zinc oxide (ZnO QDs). Recently, Black Pearls VC has supported NANOXO with EUR 232k investment. Quantum dots are an extremely innovative material currently used mainly in the production of digital displays. Thanks to NANOXO technology, they will find application in other branches of industry.

Scientific background

Using our quantum dot technology, we are able to develop materials with very high purity and stability as well as low toxicity, which opens the way to many different practical applications. The key advantage of our technology is precise control over the occurring chemical processes. This allows us to design nanomaterials that can be used use in various products As a NANOXO company, with the support of the investor, we intend to further develop technology and expand its commercialization. Already at this stage of our activity, we carry out research and implementation works in cooperation with industrial partners.

Quantum dots applications

The market of nanomaterials based on quantum dots is currently dominated by producers of the new generation of QLED displays. But there are many more potential applications for this type of material. So far, however, due to toxicity, low stability and the lack of effective methods for precise design and synthesis of quantum dots, development in new directions of their use was limited. The technology developed by NANOXO allows quantum dots to be widely used in areas previously considered to be niche.

Quantum dots produced with our method can be used as effective luminescent markers to protect the originality of products, sorting markers, fluorescent inks or self-cleaning materials. - They will also be applied in more advanced electronic solutions such as UV sensors, modern photovoltaic panels, LEDs or lasers.

Areas of potential use of zinc oxide quantum dots also include biomedicine and the cosmetics industry - here they will prove to be drug carriers, effective UV filters or imaging markers. In addition, they can contribute to the development of new applications such as quantum computers, spintronics, or new methods of using solar energy, eg in photocatalysis.

Investment

Black Pearls VC invested EUR 230k in NANOXO from the LQT Fund II fund as part of the BRIdgeAlfa program of the National Center for Research and Development. The transaction on behalf of the fund was conducted by Maciej Skórkiewicz (Partner) and Aleksander Dobrzyniecki (Investment Manager).

The opportunity to work with Polish scientists and involvement in the development of such an advanced technology is a very interesting challenge for our team. The commercialization potential of quantum dots is huge not only due to the advanced stage of development of this technology, but mainly due to the wide spectrum of applications created with its use.

Our plan is to launch new nanomaterials and high-quality perovskites that are an interesting alternative to the products currently on the market. Currently whole world is looking for solutions in this area so that it is possible to create stable cells of new generation. We are also preparing new patent applications and are in the process of launching an online store that is a natural sales channel for the scientific industry. We believe that close cooperation with scientific clients will increase the competitiveness of our products and enable faster commercialization among global industrial partners.
