Invest Europe’s Report: “The Acceleration Point: Why Now is the Time for European Venture Capital” has been released lately to cover the progress of the European ecosystem and its global position and the unprecedented rise of the European tech industry.The Report provides key industry players’ insights and optimistic prognosis as well as impressive achievements, like – among others – fundraising in Europe hitting its highest level (€ 6.4 bn) since 2007.
Key findings:
- European VC investment total reached a post-crisis high of €4.3bn in 2016.
- In 2016, 44% of the capital in Europe was invested in ICT, followed by biotech and healthcare (27%), with the rest spread across variety of sectors.
- Since 2000, Europe has already witnessed the creation of over 50 venture-backed unicorns (companies valued at $1bn+), with many of these now set to reach to the $10bn mark.
